Hieman epilogia tulossa.

Eräs tasamaan hiihtäjä kirjoitti testamenttinsa, veti kännit ja pieksi vaimonsa, lensi pihalle ja astui taloon tyhjään kolmantena päivänä.
Pienemmällä draamalla päästään kuitenkin tällä kertaa. Kesällä 2008 Jetti oli menossa paloiteltavaksi ja pieni ihminen oletti, että joku suuri hyväntekijä pelastaa tilanteen. Näin ei käynyt ja pienet ihmiset yrittivät yhdessä vetää teräsjättiä takaisin parempaan veteen, siniseen tai vihreään. Ei aivan onnistunut, mutta hyvä yritys.
Mukavia ihmisiä nuo Finnjetin ystävät, kävi mielessä ja toisessa, ja niin päädyimme perustamaan seuramme ja saimme luvan laivan komeaan nimeen. Saimme pelastettua valtaisan määrän paperia ja näimme toisiamme terminaaleissa, telakalla ja laivalla. Vauhdikas ensimmäinen vuosi ja Jetti yhdisti edelleen.

Kunnes saapui vuodenvaihde 2009-2010. Päämetelöitsijä, eli tämän kirjoittava törmäsi kahteen kovaan uppotukkiin. Olin luvannut, että annan olla heti kun joku protestoi. Näin myös kävikin ja vaikka kina sovittiin, niin erimielisyys tärkeässä asiassa ei voi olla vaikuttamatta motivaatioon. Toinen snagi, uppotukki, oli muistomerkkihankkeen epäonnistuminen. Oma idea, kyllä, mutta olisi mukavaa onnistuakin. Ehkä joku muu olisi osannut paremmin?

Mutta kupissa painaa kolmaskin seikka. Seuran pitää olla seura. Ei yhden miehen saneludiktatuuri. Meillä on ollut valtaisasti hyviä ideoita, mutta työryhmien aikaansaaminen ja toteutus ei ole ollut helppoa. Myönnetään, että välillä hankkeita on ollut rinnan parikymmentäkin eri vaiheissa, on kyseessä paljon muistettavaa. Mutta parikymmentä hanketta saisi myös tarkoittaa sitä, että jotkin niistä tulevat myös valmiiksi. Tässä olen ollut heikko “johtaja”, sillä en kehtaa komennella ystäviä ja mukavia vapaaehtoisia ihmisiä. Meillä kaikilla on monia velvollisuuksia eri suunnilla ja vapaaehtoinen juttu on luonnollisesti monen muun asian takana. En ole siis mitenkään harmistunut. Tämä on jokseenkin odotettu seuraus.

Päinvastoin, seura on saanut paljon aikaan. Yli sata Finnjetin ystävää on liittynyt mukaan ja arvellakseni toivovat nimen ja tarinan jotenkin jatkuvan. Seuran pohjana on myös huomattava määrä arkistomateriaalia ja ympärillä on erilaista harrastustoimintaa. Seuran nimissä on myös luotu uusia ystävyyksiä ja ihmiset ovat auttaneet toisiaan työasioissakin. Oikea mukavien ihmisten ritarikunta.

Olen hyvä keksimään uusia omituisia ideoita ja aloittamaan projekteja, joten tämänkin seuran suhteen ajatukseni oli saattaa alkuun jotain hyvää surullisista raunioista. En kuitenkaan tiedä miten jatkaa, tahi lopettaa. Ne eivät ole vahvuuksiani.
Oli oikein ilahduttavaa kuulla, että Ari Kangasalusta oli kiinnostunut jatkamaan seuran puheenjohtajana. Pesunkestävä merimies sopii hyvin meriseuran kaasukahvoihin.

Kiitokset Finnjetin ystäville. On ollut lämmittävää kokea, että asia on ollut muillekin tärkeä.

Hansa-traffic past and present::[bug report] ship connections between Russia and Sweden or Germany
As You perhaps know, Finnlines will add a second new ship on the Lübeck - St. Petersburg connection. MV Translubeca will change to Travemünde - Turku.

She will be substituted by MV Transrussia. This ship should be wellknown for Travemünde. It will be the old MV Finnhansa, which changed last year to a mediterranean traffic between Genua, Italy and Valletta, Malta with a stop in Messina, when I am right. For this the name was changed to MV Euroferry Sicilia.

These days she started coming back to the Baltic. For today she should be at Gibraltar. The planned arrival in Travemünde should be 27.07.2010 in the morning. And on the same day she will start the traffic as a sister ship of MV Transeuropa to St. Petersburg with a new stop in Ventspils.

es wird bereits ein Entwurf gebaut von der Finnjet. Einfach hier
schauen.

Wer weis ob man das Logo von Silja auf dem Modell verwenden darf oder braucht man eine Genehmigung?

Well Finely got the Big Finnjet logo done.
Tried a new ESC that can run at a bigger voltage. She now runs faster and has a bit of power. the problem is her weight in that she cant take any so is top heavy and prone to rolling. Still got 1 or 2 ideas to try before I throw the towel in and say she not a good boat to sail. Still a few bits to finish off on her but she at least 98% done.

well, I also think that it's her due to the measured width of the vessel's hull and due to her almost rectangular position to the beach (I remember pictures showing her shortly after being beached). Furthermore you can see the rest of the turbine exhaust system as Peter already mentioned above. The quite narrow car deck you can see in the picture also indicates that it's Jetti.

For this reason, I have opened a new topic in the members-only forum ("Society").

Everybody is invited to discuss and to present his/her personal interests and to mention possible fields of participation.

In order to make it easier, I have suggested a thematical framework for the formation of working groups:

Mr Moerchen has informed me, that Travemünde now has a "new" propeller memorial, but not for Finnjet, obviously, and this is at a different location, than which was reserved for our memorial project. Good to see a memorial though!

In December of 2009, our German-speaking board proposed to display a Finnjet-based information plaque, within a glass box at the terminal. The glass display case still bears the name of the famed vessel, tho underneath masking tape.

Our society member Mr Heinonen has successfully contacted the terminal management of the original Finnjet -terminal in Helsinki. The masking tape apparently will come off without damage to the title and the keys of the display case are safe. But this is not all, our society is allowed to proceed with the proposal!

The society thanks the management lead of the terminal and our member Mr Heinonen!

To make this plaque as informational, dignified and visually inspiring as possible, the chairman proposes an open discussion in our forum, in regards to the plaque."

My own initial suggestions and thoughts are the following:
- Plaque to be printed out on proper cardboard and the society will hold multiple copies in reserve. (Potential display at Travemünde also)
- Precise measurements of display box are required. Is someone perhaps visiting Katajanokka soon?
- Plaque to be printed out in three languages: Finnish, German and English. Images, plans or charts to be displayed only once on the plaque, and not each time for every language, to conserve space.
- Language division: Vertical, horizontal or mixed?
- A grand image of GTS Finnjet plowing thru sea at high speed or passing thru ice.
- Image of Finnjet at Katajanokka.
- Finnlines and Silja era equally weighted.
- Bringing forward the influence of GTS Finnjet in the planning and construction of modern cruiseferries. Builder in focus, but not forgetting the manufacturers of her key systems. "The sum of wonderful parts".
- Era of Finnjet in travel and politics.
- The influence of Finnjet on the very terminal, which will house the plaque.
- Should there be something on the plaque which you do not normally expect to see on such a plaque? Perhaps something about the influence the vessel had on her crew? New families being formed on a vessel, which for some was the maritime equivalent of the Concorde, but for some was quite simply, home. A warm thought on the plaque might cancel out some of the sadness the untimely end of the vessel will evoke. We don't want to make people sad, but proud of their past.
